MACQUARIE COMMUNITY FORUM - Thursday 8 November, 5 - 7 p.m.
Come and enjoy a discussion by a panel of experts and the Federal
Election candidates for Bennelong! The discussion will focus on the
topic of;
• Industrial Relations
• Higher Education
• Climate Change
Where? SAM Atrium - Macquarie University
Speakers include:
Maxine McKew - Labor candidate for Bennelong
John Howard - PM and Member for Bennelong (TBC)
Justine Evesson - Workplace Research Centre, Sydney Uni
Carolyn Allport - NTEU National President
Lindsay Peters - Greens Candidate for Bennelong
This event has been organised by the Macquarie Community Forum
Committee in conjunction with the NTEU Macquarie University Branch.
A little unbelievable that the Prime Minister would visit our little old Uni when he is so busy, let along the atrium. I can't find anywhere to RSVP.

It also clashes with a Clubs and Societies meeting on 3rd floor of SAM. Still, seeing as i'll be voting for one of these people, I'll be there.

Anyone else?

When I spoke to Shawn from SOC there wasnt any assurance that the PM would attend; he was invited. Maxine is going to be there though.

I can't believe they haven't been campaigning at uni. There are at least a couple thousand students who go to Macquarie uni who are enrolled in Benelong.

The PM won't be there. He's not one to get into any sort of substantive debate unless it's on TV.

does TBC stand for To Be Communist?

Politics is a waste of everybody's time.
procrastination is a waste of everybody's time, it feels pointless and we still do it. Representation is really important, and effective representation is really powerful.

I'm excited about these people being on campus because we can let them know what we want done better.

My key wishes for north ryde are rainwater tanks, bikelanes, windfarms, solar-panels. I don't know if fed pollies have any say in these issues but hey, i'm going to be voting for someone on the day, may as well know them a little bit.
