Howdy there folks,
I'm currently making some enquires into Media degrees, specifically ones relating to Television Production and I was wondering how everyone sees the Macquarie Bachelor of Media (or any other Sydney University degree) in comparison to the Charles Sturt BA (Television Production).

Below is a link to a thread in the Charles Sturt section of Bored of Studies, it would be greatly appreciated if anyone here could respond with their opinions with regards to the two degrees (plus any suggestions!)

Umm, hmm Charles Sturt definitely have a focus towards that, I'm not sure Media in Screen Production is entirely focused on television, if that's what you want to get into.

I have heard that the Television production facilities at CSU are quite impressive, so I guess the MQ degrees don't really correlate, best to wait for Phanatical, since he's an Honours in Media in Screen Production.

There is the program for it, you could have a look and see if that relates to what you want to do :)

Quite simply if you want to go into television production - the one at CSU is THE course. The facilities are amazing - kick arse television studio SD enabled with 3 cameras on peds ($300K each), beautiful vision mixer, 100% digital 96 channel audio desk with G5 - if it had a transmitter we could be broadcasting today.
How's that sound? ;)

Bah, I've been Phanatic on the internet since before Phanatical discovered it contained porn. Just not on this site. I think he/she should change. :mad1:

Yeah, I've done BMedia Screen Production with Honours, so I can tell you about that course.

Basically, it's not a TV course - it's definately biased towards film. All of the screen production units require you to make short films - no TV. There is a lot of theory involved. Considering the balance of units, it's something like 3/4 theory to 1/4 practical. It is a great course, but from your description, not what you're after.

Cheers,
Phil
