Hey guys, so recently i noticed my physics rank was 4th, and i thought it would be 3rd so i went to my curriculum coordinator and she said by judging by marks, i should be in his spot and told me to come back tomorrow because she wanted to talk to my physics teacher.

here are the task.

Task 1.
Weighting = 15%
the guy beat me by 7 marks
out of 35

Task 2
15%
i beat him by 5 marks
forgot what it was out of =/

task 3
25%
he beat me by 1 mark
out of 100 (fcuking teacher chucked a shifty.. 100% sure i beat him in half yearlies.)

task 4
15%
0

task 5
30%
i beat him by 6 marks
out of 100

did he beat me because of task 1? and its weighting?
and im ranked below him .. does this make sense?

No what you have typed makes no sense at all to me lol. When you say down by 7 marks in Task 1 for example, does that mean that you beat him by 7/XX (whatever the task was out of) and that task was weighted at 15%? If so, we need to know what the task was out of because being beaten by 7 marks in a task out of 10 is WAY worse than being beaten by 7 marks in a task out of 50

you can easily find this out yourself. Just type all your marks in a calculator and see if your final mark is higher or lower than the guy in front of you

What do you mean by task 4 - 0? did you get the same mark or did you get 0 for that assessment?

Mm well I just tried some numbers (entering them as raw assessment marks) and with the calculations I got, he should be ranked better than you.
I'm not sure if this is 'mathematically' correct but this is what i did lol, maybe it'd change for higher numbers... I'm not sure:
------
ASSUME: the marks you get is always '7'
You:
7/35 x 15 + 7/100 x 15 + 7/100 x 25 + 7/100 x 15 + 7/100 x 30 = 8.95
Him:
14/35 x 15 + 2/100 x 15 + 8/100 x 25 + 7/100 x 15 + 1/100 x 30 = 9.65
-------
ASSUME: the marks you always get are 15
You:
15/35 x 15 + 15/100 x 15 + 15/100 x 25 + 15/100 x 15 + 15/100 x 30 = 19.17857
Him:
22/35 x 15 + 10/100 x 15 + 16/100 x 25 + 15/100 x 15 + 9/100 x 30 = 19.8785

So with those numbers he should be ranked better than you. However, I can't be really sure because you didn't supply the actual marks.

It all depends what the second test was out of. I assume it's something low (around 35) because that's what the first task was out of and they are equally weighted. Going off this assumption, I quickly did it and you should have beaten him.

@Rawf, the marks don't matter- the gap between the two of them is enough to calculate the end difference between them. What matters is what the second test was out of.

Also, the gap between you two would have been less than 1% so I would have thought that they would have rounded and submitted you both as equals as they can't send decimals to BOS I'm pretty sure

according to my calculations
if the second test is out of 35 and less than you have beat him and if it is out of 36 and up than he has beat you.

You really need to check what the second test out of as stated above this gap is really close.
