Depends on the gig.

Corporate + Weddings = $200 for rirst hour, $100 per additional hour

Private Parties are generally around the = $150 / hour and a half depend on location, event, amount of people, etc

Restaurants = $50 / hour Minimum 3hour set + tips I recieve

Your other question, I guess it really depends on your view of "magic" is, but overall I'd class the most of it as deception and sleight of hand.
