Unlike other subjects the "major work" for SDD is an internally done thing, the teachers set and mark them. So there is a huge variation in the kinds of requirements from school to school. A major project per se is not mentioned in the syllabus but you do have to do a project as part of the requirements - some schools just don't call it a major project.

The syllabus topic Developing a Solution Package covers some objectives of the major project. Generally most schools make you program something and document it. There's usually more marks for the documentation.
