Hey guys.... Do you have any ideas for a major project i have to do next year. Not too simple, Not too difficult :)

Never do a game. They take time and GRAPHICS, which programmers do not specialise in.

Do something USEFUL. Maybe a simple program such as notepad with a bit of bonuses, or a database.

Do something enjoyable. Note the marking criteria would probably be heavily inclined to the documentation side.

So would developing a text based adventure game like a MUD or something similar be a good or bad idea? I asked my teacher and he said it might be too simple...

I would stay away from text base adventure games, they can get complicated and overuse IF-ELSE statements...

But what did you have in mind?

I agree with InfinityBlade -- do something fun. I made a game that I really wanted to make anyway, and it barely felt like work (except for the documentation -- ugh).
