technically speaking, do you have to be 18 to enter these places? or just to buy alcohol at the bar?

They don't check ID to enter at all. Haven't bought alcohol from the bar yet, though.

dunno about hermanns but at manning they check ID at the bar espesh at the beginning of the yr (cos theres a lot of 17 yr old first years). But if you go with an 18 yr old friend who buys a jug or whatever theyre not gonna come around and ask for your ID

ohh i meant for entry. because the past two days Ive gone there on my break to hang out with friends, and nobody has checked my ID when i went in. havent tried buying booze though.

You're more likely to be asked when buying alcohol rather than when you're entering, especially during the day. I'm assuming its different if you go there on a Thursday or Friday night as bars/clubs always tend to be more anal on I.D on these nights.

Probably just get your friends to buy you drinks and play it safe.
