The greatest prime minister of peacetime Britain. No one can doubt the impact she has made to Britain , with her it changed beyond recognition. Thatcher opposed socialism in all its forms and how right she was to take the last stand against the EU. Now in hindsight she has been right all along. Because the right in UK is right.

Rest In Peace Margaret Thatcher.

Interesting, no state funeral, it will be "ceremonial"

Churchill was the only PM to receive one, and Thatcher made it clear she didn't want one

Some sources reported a few years ago that plans were underway for a state funeral, with full knowledge (and consent) of thatcher.

A ceremonial funeral is like Diana's and The Queen Mother's - only Churchill and George VI have had a State Funeral since the war.

In fact for any non-monarch to get a state funeral is very very rare in the UK - 12 dating back to the days of Elizabeth I.

The most obvious difference between a State Funeral and a Ceremonial Funeral is who draws the coffin by the way - state funeral drawn by sailors while ceremonial drawn by horses.

The next full State funeral will be for The Queen with reports that Philip has already said he doesn't even want a public funeral.

she had no heart
Thank goodness someone else here has some sense, agreed entirely. She shifted the tax burden to the poor, started that stupid war in the Falklands, let the hunger strikers of H-block die rather than negotiate, put thousands of people out of jobs just to control inflation, sold off homes intended for the underprivileged leaving many destitute, censored Irish politicians and allowed one of the most prominent to die, precipitated rioting, the burning of homes and general chaos and destroyed the Welsh coal industry, rendering many workers unemployed... and that's just off the top of my head. As for her legacy? Well now Great Britain has a massive trade deficit because she destroyed local industries, which modern governments are desperately and fruitlessly trying to rectify. I believe she was an evil woman, but in fairness to her one must acknowledge she was quite insane and clearly a megalomaniac. It's hard not to see the detrimental nature of her leadership upon her people. When her own party stabbed her in the back following the series of riots which resulted directly from her belief in making the families which were clearly socio-economically disadvantaged pay more tax than the wealthy there were street parties across the UK. She was not a good woman and if I see one more pitying post (generally created by people who know little about her, or have simply watched the Iron Lady...) venerating her I'll probably scream.

Yes because giving more power to unions would have saved industry, right?

I believe she was an evil woman
Yes, clearly she spent so many years becoming prime minister just so she could fuck everyone over for her own sick satisfaction.

The FUCK are you actually talking about?

I wasn't talking about her approach to unionism so much as her obsession with privatisation and her closing of mines which lead to tens of thousands of workers being out of employment.

Wouldn't put it past her, though I didn't say that. Just because she was evil doesn't mean that's the only reason she became prime minister.

The poll tax and ensuing riots. The poll tax essentially shifted the tax burden from the wealthy to poor, people don't decide to launch devastating riots and torch buildings as a result of a policy change because it was a fantastic one. After the riots she was effectively deposed by her own party (leading her to resign) and all across the United Kingdom there were people celebrating her long awaited downfall. For someone who supports her so much you clearly don't know much.
