This question is going to sound stupid to some people but I really need an answer and will be very grateful if you help me.
Can someone please tell me what Math B is? I think it’s 3-unit math, but I would like to have someone else confirm that.
Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the HSC, or do you live in another state?

Are you from QLD? I think QLD has this system doesn't it?

I've heard that the highest level of mathematics in QLD, is NSW equivalent to Mathematics Extension 1 (2nd highest level in NSW).

I just completed year 12 in Queensland.

We have three types of Maths:

1) Maths A (No calculus)
2) Maths B (Lots of calculus)
3) Maths C (Similar to Extension 1 Maths in NSW)

Maths C is the most difficult of these, followed by Maths B and Maths A.

Most people study Maths A, but those interested in courses like Medicine, Physiotherapy, Engineering etc take both Maths B and Maths C as they scale very well (good for overall position (OP)/ATAR)

Most other states in Australia have no equivalent of MX2.

Apparently specialist in VIC is the closest to NSW MX2 but i've lookedthrough the Specialist syllabus and it looks like the easy bits of every MX2 topic. With some other stuff that looks very basic and would most likely be MX1 equivalent.

I almost think Mx1=Specialist, although specialist includes MX2 topics, it's the easy algebriac maniupulation stuff and basic concepts... meh that's my two cents

Vic Unis think that Mx2=specialist though, which is appalling in my opinion. Just means that i will hopefully carve up lol

So what this is saying is... NSW Maths is superior to all other maths. Yay!

which is why NSW should not dumb down its syllabi, otherwise we lose superiority when compared to the other states
