Here is the question:-
If you have 50c, $2 and $1 coins, in how many ways can you make up $10?

The answer is 21, but it took me ages to work out because I was writing each way down.

Like this
50c x 7 + $2 x 1 + $1 x 1
50c x 6 + $2 x 2
50c x 6 + $2 x 2 + $1 x 1
and so on....

Anyone have a quicker and easier way?
Thanx :D

i could be wrong, but what you did is probably the easiest way. trial and error always works, even if it takes a long time.

Why would my teacher care? I mean it's not like he would be checking out my working out, when I'm doing the australian maths competition...so I don't think it matters, which method I use, as long as I get it RIGHT!:D
