Does anyone here have any questions here with solutions or have steps to how to work out the mathematical chemical questions that we will be assessed on in the HSC?

stoichiometry?
on the whole the calculations in chem are not hard especially if you do 2 u maths, ext 1 etc. Just learn the formulas n=m/M = cV etc.

Well is there anyone that can say which ones they would learn, like constant k, n=m/M = cV and provide examples (with solution ofcourse lol) if possible for them

First of all, are you in year 12?

Being the massive hypocrite that I am - it would be a lot easier if you put your HSC year in your profile. :)

The calculations are in the syllabus dot point summaries. But you should be able to find them reasonably quickly if you now what page each of the syllabus they are on.

Just a brief list, this may not include everything:
  • n = m/M
  • ΔH = MCΔT
  • C1V1 = C2V2
  • E0 of galvanic cells
  • At 0°C and 1 atm, one mole of any gas occupies 22.41 L
  • At 25°C and 1 atm, one mole of any gas occupies 24.79 L
  • pH = -log10[H+]
  • [H+] = 10-pH
  • Volumetric and gravimetric calculations for various reactions

Is there any direct site that has these examples and shows how to do them. Has anyone got any steps on how to use some of these calculations? thanks

Why do I get the impression that you're trying to learn them now? :p

You're supposed to know them like the back of your hand by now!

A site? Not that I know of. Look through your textbooks for calculation questions and if you have any problems or questions about them, post post post. :)

Volumetric and gravimetric calculations for various reactions please have you got any step by step way of calculating?

Oh come on. :p Dig up something from your textbook.

I'm not going to write up all the reactions we need to know and contrive random stuff to calculate. :p

What pages should I be looking at in conquering chemistry? :p

Look at those questions in blue boxes. :)

Although CC isn't exactly abundant in calculation questions. Look through past papers.

Yeah, I've looked at some past papers and thats where I'm screwed. I cannot do some of them thats why I have asked for step by step instructions or a page in CC but I can't get none of that :(

Well why didn't you post up those questions? :p

We're here to help answer questions, but we can't do your research for you.

ok so now you need to go over example questions..i have never used CC so i cannt not vouch for it though i know Dreamerish will.. but i know that Chemistry Contexts is excellent in terms of examples of calculations....take a look at this book.

also once you understand what the book is saying go do some questions Excel Chemistry is good for that so is HSC Success...
