well at least someone else put $96000

with the circle question, you had to find the gradients of the two lines and then use the angle between two lines formula to find theta... it was one of those questions that if you saw it at first it was easy, but if u didnt see it, then it was hard to figure out.

HAHAH OMG !!! that circle question is so EASY now. i full did the area of the triangle and i assumed that 1/2absinC would be the same thing. god, i dnt kno what i was on.

it didn't work bdw :vcross: my sinC said maths error HAHAH shucks.

all i did was substitute the values from the table into the equation to proove it. or is that the wrong way of doin it?

Thats the correct way to do it
Oh man is that all you have to do?! I spent quite a lot of time on that one little question - was the only one i couldn't get out. I integrated the velocity equation from part (i) and I was like, What the hell I have two constants (k and c). So subbed some stuff in, got x = t^2 + 1 and left it at that. Oh well.

What did everyone get for the Simpsons rule volume one with lny? Anyone get (20/6)pi? Or 10? Or did I mess it all up...

But aren't the times overlapping for the two tests? That's if you follow the CSSA trial timetable anyway

Did anyone else get around $96000 for the super-annuation question? (Q 9)
Everyone said they got like $36000 but i added the compound interest...
i got ~36 026 (i think)
it was like 500+560x1.12+560x1.122....
was the 2nd instalment $560? just wanna make sure

btw. what is this athletics question????
i did the actual cssa paper....there was no athletics question.

i thought the paper was alright. wasnt too difficult, but wasnt easy either. few tricky questions. i cant believe i got the maxima/minima volume of the box right. and getting values for 2sinx and -sin2x. and i put 36000 for that super question.

ummmm i couldnt do the question with the fkn circle with a radius of 13cm. i couldnt get the angle. WTF? someone explain.

ummm in question 3 i think, the one with all the coordinate geometry. what was the area of the triangle?
maxima and minima - what did u get?
i think i got something like ~20000 cubic cms
i got two values for x, but only one gave a maximum (the other one gave a minimum). i hope i'm right :)

there was a table with three values of t and three values of x.
the way i did it was to sub all the values into "x"....i found one of the constants and then had to solve simultaneously to find the other two.

the test was quite easy i rkn.. qstn 10 was way off-par when compared to 2003 HSC qstn 10 or one of the harder years.

Im surprised at the number of ppl in the 2unit candidature @my skool who didnt get the velocity one at all = less 5 marks >_<...

but then agen wtf cares.. 2unit is useless anyway..

u need like 98 HSC mark in 2unit maths to get a good contribution 2 ure UAI!

u know the M<sub>n</sub>= (1+r/100)M<sub>n-1</sub> question..

it did say r.. where r is 12%

so I took it as (1+.12/100) and got something close to (32k..?I don't remember..)

Everyone who got around $30000, Consider this guy, who puts in $500 + $560 +... + $4800, so all up he puts in around $30000 with his raw installments...

What would be the point of putting money into a superannuation fund if it wasnt earning any interest? People used 500(1.12)^20 +560(1.12)^19 ... to do their sum of all numbers, but u cant sum it if there's a different term outside of each r. So u had to put each installment (500, 560, 627 etc) in terms of a common number... ie. 560 = 500 times 1.12, 627 = 500 time 1.12^2

therefore, the sum of all numbers should've looked like:

500(1.12)^20 + 500(1.12)(1.12)^19 +500(1.12)^2 (1.12)^18....

So if you combine them you get...

500(1.12)^20 + 500(1.12)^20 + 500(1.12)^20 ....

with 20 terms...

The answer i got was 20 times 500(1.12)^20

= $96400...

This was just how i interpreted the question. I think $36000 was the raw amount of all his installments added up without any interest on them.

I could be wrong for all i know

my interpretation:
from memory, the question asked:
"how much in total did Jordan put into the fund after 20 years". i don't think it was how much the fund was worth. but then again, my memory could be failing me :)

if my interpretation is correct, then it would be ~36 000. anyway, whichever one is right - whoever got the wrong answer will probably only lose 1 mark.

Im pretty sure it didnt ask how much he put it but rather how much was the value of his investment at the end of 20 years which led me to use the same method as dansta. I had both the 36000 and the 96000 methods written on my sheet and crossed out the 36000
