Usually the mx2 exam papers are harder than even the ap math exams in america and a levels further maths exams which is actually kinda cool

(they have much more university content but their actual questions aren’t too hard if you know the stuff, unlike mx2)

AP don't do vectors or complex numbers tho

b4/b5 in eng is tanking my atar
bro ill never get people like this. kids can get like 99.95 from maths and then choke english. like surely english is not like that bad tbh. its easier imo to get a mid b6 in english advanced than like a 90 e4 in ext 2 math.

English, like extension 2 math require innate abilities to band 6. they just aren't innately good at HSC English essay writing

i wouldn't say u have to be 'innately' good at english tho to band 6. like the course in itself is alot of work but beyond that its just being able to write quickly and have clear articulation. like in my eyes if people are putting enough effort in school to get outstanding math marks, whats stopping them from taking that to english. like i know so many people that have been capped at 98 and 96 atars depsite getting like goated math marks.

those who got a less than 98 just cause of english would've gotten a 99.5 easily had they did something other than the HSC like WACE, where English isn't compulsory in Atar calculation. Additionally, they would've gotten a 99.95 equivalent had they something like A Level , no English requirement at all + 3 subjects only.

yeah that’s also true, they don’t do proofs or mechanics much (unless it comes up in ap physics c, which is calc based physics)
Actually they do vectors, just not in terms of vector proofs (they do vector-valued functions and some vector calculus as well)

English is too subjective on the marker, not too fair tbh. I pretty much know what I got for e2 even without the solution, but english is just unpredictable
yeh i do getcha. at the start of the year literally math for me were both like 99.95 contributors (5/30 in ext 2 and 2/60 in ext 1) and english was the one subject dragging me down and i always expected it to. surpirisingly tho in the 2nd half of the yr like both the trial and the task before that i was 2 out of like 150 kids for english advanced. maybe thats why my views have changed on it perhaps. i do agree with u tho i used to always believe it was always rlly volatile but it has grown on me. its just a weird subject tho at times tbh. it rewards u for memorising and being able to write very quickly which is probs where im best at compared to actually being a pure intellectual at math. its weird how the atar prioritises both tho. probs why its not the best measure of raw iq or anything.

Yup, Math is the most predictable HSC subject. I predicted on the dot my math advanced raw mark, but for physics underestimated by 9 marks due to subjective marking as well
