You do not really need to study for maths. You just do questions.

i really think that teachers have taught students alot of their tips and tricks

for example i mean if u had


(x + 4) all squared


you would be expanding it

i know that some people would write it out


(x+4) (x+4)


and then do the FOIL method i fink thats wat its called

our teacher just used a simple method


1) Square the first


First = x

thefore = x^2


2) Multiply both numbers/pronumerals, then times it by two

x mutliplied by 4 , times 2

= 8x


3) Sqaure the second


Second = 4


thus = 16


if you put it together you got


x^2 + 8x + 16


simple huh?, no writing down on paper, u can simply use your brain to work it out, again i duno if anyone else knows this, but i found that it was very useful


so yeah like i said im sure you guys know alot of other tips and tricks that you have up ur sleeves which speeds the process of calculations up

But on the other hand, a lot of these "tricks" are in the Excel Pocket Formula book, which cost me $12 and was definitely worth the cash. The real benefit for this study group thing would be having a small cell of quasi-tutors, because by explaining things to each other we'll help to memorise them properly.

that's very true... because i think at our age we have our own form of communication which is hell easy to understand, whilst the teachers really stick by the text book or go around in bloody circles just to think they're making things easier, when they make it harder to understand

i think we should check out our dates for scool endings and also stuvac


ok i finish school on Sept 23rd


then the rest is stuvac period up to holidays as well

and how long will it go for?


and how many times should we do it

should we spurt out into miscellaneous topics? or should we go topic by topic, i fink we should go through each chapter of a topic, ask each other if they understand this portion good enough to be confident, if no then we all discuss our findings and how we may approach it

Good. We'll have to wait a week or so for final details obviously (coaching colleges love giving late notice about holiday programs, so I need to wait) but yeah, looks open. Plus, I didn't get a med interview so nothing else in the way.

Anyone else interested? These groups work so much better when there are three or more people.
