Maths questions you can just throw into the maths section of the forum without fear, since prelim maths gets reexamined in the HSC

Express in standard scientific notation form:
The number of cm^2 in 5 hectares, given that 1 hectare = 10^4m^2

I stumbled upon this question and have no idea how to do it.
Express in standard scientific notation form:
The number of cm^2 in 5 hectares, given that 1 hectare = 10^4m^2
Just remember if going for m^2 to cm^2 you dont multiply by 100 but rather 100^2.

OKAY so I have more questions :

How do I show an equation in this case x^2-4x+1 has 2 real and distinct solutions. Don't I just use the discriminant b^2-4ac>0?

How do I solve x - (4 square root x-1 ) +2=0.
do I sub a value for the square root of x-1.

I would let u=root of x-1 then go from there
Just remember to sub it back in at the end

but then how would you solve for u from the equation ; u minus the square root of 4 +3=0

Ignore the question I asked (solved it)

Latex seems quite complicated looking at that tutorial
