anyone know whether the course is good and how it compares with unsw/uws?

There are problems with it's AMA accreditation at the moment due to staff shortages, but these should be resolved shortly.

The issue is that QLD Health will not guarentee internships for full-fee university students by the time that you graduate.

UAI 90+, with a decent umat score + interview. It really depends on the cadidature.

Without internship you cannot practice/train for a specialisation or even practice as a doctor! An MBBS is almost effectively worthless and useless if you cannot gain internship or training whatsoever.

Students will be ranked with with priority in regards to internship. The QLD government has not committed to any new training places, despite the number of graduates from med schools more than doubling. This will create a severe 'bottle-neck' and possibly a back log of medical students waiting a number of years till they can start training.

It is assumed internships will be based on a selection criteria as below, many predict GPA's will also be used in the future:

1. QLD CSP Students.
2. CSP Students who originally resided in Qld.
3. Full-fee students
4. Int full-fee students

I know that... I also know about intl students and the hierarchy with internships.

I was asking why do they discriminate against full fee students even if they are local.

^ Short answer: politics

As State politicians intially didn't want to see tax payers money being spent on those who could afford to buy their way into a medical education/lower priorty towards international students compared to locals.

Maybe they can come train in rural areas ;)
Many rural hospitals are ill-equiped to train interns in a range of specialities. It really limits students to future training in other specialist areas, unless their hell-bent on becoming rural GP's.
