As an approximation, 98+ ATAR, 180+ UMAT.

To comfortably receive a first round interview offer: 99+ ATAR, 200+ UMAT.

The first one won't get an interview and the second one is a little two high...you could almost secure a spot with only a satisfactory interview with those scores.

98.75 and about 180 and you should definitely get an interview.

On a side note my lab demonstrators have been bagging the lack of teaching in microbiology, histology, pathology ect. @ unsw med since the new course was introduced :S

They aren't that bad, and it's not like it overly matters for med students, as those courses really only serve the purpose of providing some background knowledge for when they start interning / learning how to really be a doctor.

i would recommend visiting Med Students Online - For medicine, dentistry, allied health, UMAT, GAMSAT, interview and general discussion.

I'm interested in studying med at unsw, but found out recently that the dates for first round interviews this year are from 24/11 - 1/12, and I have booked (and paid) to go to schoolies on the 26th of november!!!! Obviously if I get a shit score for UMAT then it's not a concern, but the possibility is always there. Is it possible to interview by phone/request an interview in the 2nd round in Jan if I'm offered a first round interview?
