Hi all,

I'm a first year and just wondering if the med camp is worth going?
What type of activities would you have to participate in? Cuz I have a serious knee injury that I'm not allowed to climb mountains or walk up the stairs, let alone doing any sports :(

So, I was just wondering whether I should go to med camp even if I won't be able to participate in a lot of events?

Thanks!

I don't know much about med camp itself, but I'm definitely going and you should come too :) Apparently it's a great time to make friends and socialise!

I would definitely suggest going to Medcamp! I was also reluctant about it last year, but in the end I decided to go because my friends in older years said that it was the primary opportunity to make friends in the beginning of the first year. You get to experience what being an UNSW Medicine is really about - and you will realise that this course isn't all about studying 24/7. From what I remember, our Medcamp had a trivia night, disco party, toga party (bring white bedsheets!) etc. Day activities included bushwalking (the second years wake you up at 5 or 6am and make you feel like you are in a bootcamp), flour ball throwing (your Medcamp shirts are going to be ruined so bring extra clothes... it takes forever to wash off), survival of the fittest game (i think this was like a relay game where some volunteers eat really gross food and do some challenges, and other people just watch and cheer) and other bonding activities. Of course it would be hard for you to participate in all these activities considering your situation, but you can still sit out and have fun with other first years playing card games and chatting, as that is what most people end up doing anyway :)
