Hey guys,

It's that time of year again, and as usual I'm here to help
A little about myself first:

  • Final year Commerce/Law student at the University of Sydney
  • Currently employed at KPMG (top-tier accounting firm)
  • Interned at McKinsey & Co (top-tier management consulting firm)
  • NSW UAI 99.60
  • Specialist interview tutor for Year 12 students since 2010
I believe that I can take the stress and nerves out of the high-pressure interview environment. I have extensive experience interviewing for Medicine (done UNSW, UWS, Monash, Newcastle interviews) as well as Co-op scholarships and Cadetships (done numerous top-tier accounting/finance/consulting interviews).

I believe the key to a successful interview lies in perfecting the following:

  • Being intelligent but not dry and nerdy
  • Being funny but not a clown
  • Being sensitive but not dramatic
My rates are:

  • $50/hour for Interview tutoring (if Ryde/North Shore areas)
  • $55/hour for Interview tutoring (other Metropolitan Sydney)
I cater predominantly for students in the North Shore/Ryde areas. Please PM me to enquire. Thank you for your time and best of luck to everyone in your endeavours!

I highly recommend Gareth to all prospective students! His results and credentials speak for itself, and he is a wonderful person with a great sense of character. All the best. :)

You seem well presented and highly qualified. I'm interested and don't even want/need the service! :)

KPMG Cadet applications for Sydney have opened as of 2 May 2011.

They do rolling recruitment so get your application in order and submitted ASAP to maximise your chances! (Already met a few Cadet applicants at work last week)

Gareth was excellent! He was extremely well prepared and brought a great energy to what he did. I used him for cadetship tutoring and his extensive experience has really helped me. The applications and information he has is also of great assistance.

Strongly recommend him particularly to people going for any of the accounting cadetships for application and interview help. He is well worth the money.

Mate that's a really impressive resume, particularly the McKinsey part. (As expected from a Grammar boy =])

Just out of interest, does McKinsey run an internship program in Sydney, or did you do your internship elsewhere? The reason I'm asking is that I want to get some experience in MC, and McKinsey is the place to be! Also a side note, was your internship related to 180 Degrees Consulting at USYD?

Haha good question mate. McKinsey don't run internships in Australia (and in any case I know the three grads who got into McK Australia this year and they are absolute beasts and much better than me in every facet of life lol). I did the next best thing of applying to China - only problem is they conduct the phone interviews in Chinese so be sure to touch up on your Mando.

As for 180 Degrees, nah I'm not part of it. Seems like a great society to be a part of though. I just don't think I've got the time with full time uni, tutoring and work at KPMG etc.

The best thing I can advise in regards to getting internship experience in MC before you graduate is to apply for big4 consulting divisions. I know they are more implementation/operational consulting rather than pure strategy, but honestly I think it's better experience than applying for smaller boutique strategy houses like LEK or Pottinger (my opinion only obviously). In particular, Deloitte's consulting is ranked #1 in terms of consultant billable hours and they're a powerhouse in Asia-Pacific. KPMG Management Consulting is also absolutely raking it in (something like 20% of total firm revenue is generated from MC alone).

Hope that helps! And hope it helps others too (even though it's not strictly related to interview skills).
