You mean in the thesis defense? Pretty much, they want to knwo why you did what you did and what was your purpose and how will your findings affect your current research area.lala2 said:Wow, is it that stressful? Good luck! And of course they critique and challenge you as to why you use this experimental approach in your research over all the other ones etc etc.. what is the meaning of these specific results, and what are the future directions based on your results.
My thesis defense lasted for 1 hr and 40 mins.. so... basically two academics take turn and fire questions at you for that long. Your supervisor is also there and try to ask you questions and help you out at times.
