so i am posting this thread as an outlet for anyone who needs to rant about their mental illness - depression, anxiety, bi polar, disorders etc - or discuss or speculate or ask questions

As much as our members can try to help, they should never be considered a substitute for proper healthcare.

i have a relative and a friend who suffers from depression

I knew someone who suffered from anorexia nervosa.

It's quite horrifying to see it firsthand.

oh gosh, that must be terrible

i get teary whenever i even see an anorexic person or anything like that

Depends. I used to self-harm and contemplate suicide a lot 2 years go. Could be just due to teenage angst

Depends on the circumstances, if your getting bullied etc. In most cases once the bullying stops you will eventually get back into a normal routine (this can take anywhere between a few weeks and a whole life time, it really depends on severity and the person). I hope your feeling better though.

I think its important to note that depression is often caused by activities in the person's world, same goes for anxiety, ADHD, bipolar. Even if everyone around you is dying, if your depression is interfering with your ability to function properly for a long time, you should definitely see someone about it! I have mild anxiety and bipolar (Cyclothymia).

That said, i'm quite confident that most students can go to a psychiatrist and be diagnosed with an array of mental illnesses. I'm pretty sure our mood reflects our personality and value system, and we need a new system of what is "normal" especially in adolescents.

Could be. Mental illness is very serious shit.

how well do meds help with your bi polar?
