sin (7*pi*n)/12 = 0
i know the answer is 12 but am confused on how to solve this.

Unless there's a given restriction for n (or maybe they are just asking for the lowest value n can take), there can be infinite solutions. But essentially, with sin(x) = 0, x = n*pi (where pi = 180), so you want (7*n)/12 to be a positive integer. Thus, the lowest value n can be is 12, as the numerator and denominator would cancel each other out.
