I'm looking to pick up three extension subjects next year. Does this give me a higher chance of a better ATAR?

If you don't, they're not counted anyway (>10 units) in your atar calculation, like me.

The ATAR isn't a lottery, it's a rank. You still need to do well in your subjects to rank well. Doing poorly even in the best scaling subjects won't help getting a good ATAR. Do subjects that you think you will like and do well in. That will maximise your ATAR.
