Hey people,

This is mainly targeted at previous and present HSC students.

Just wondering what are the best and most useful text/work books to purchase for year 12?

Preferably for:
Chemistry, PDHPE, Gen. Maths, Standard English and Biology?

:D

Thank you.

For chem and bio I really recommend the new excel guides, they follow the syllabus, making them useful for notes. Conquering chem is also really good and so is heinemann bio.

For PDHPE I use Outcomes and the macquarie guide and they have been great all year, giving you all the info you need.

Chemistry Textbook Recommendations:

  • Chemistry 2 (Jacaranda)
  • Chemistry Contexts 2
  • Excel as revision (new edition)
  • Using Dot Point or Surfing may help consolidate your understanding.

For biology these two work great in conjunction with eachother, the syllabus & hsc online:
Heinemann Biology txtbk by Kate Mudie and Judith Brotherton
Excel HSC Biology Book

Its better to buy the Excel books at the start of the year for additional information that may help you to understand the work more easily :)

Legal: Dot Point, Heinemann, Macmillan. There's also this light blue book with Legal Studies at the top for Crime by Stella something. I'll get back to you on that

But nothing beats having a stash of media articles, legislation and cases.
