Do you listen to movie soundtracks?

Which movie soundtrack did you like the most?
Was it an oscar winner?

What does the music do that captures your love for it?

Did the movie influence the music and why/what do you like about
the score?

My fav soundtracks are.....

Gladiator
The Last Samurai
X-Men
The Patriot
SpiderMan
Stargate
Dances W/Wolves
LOTR
Harry Potter
and many more........

I love orchestra music! Classical and O.S.T!
They move me and inspire me!
They can give me an imagination and I can
make one up as I listen to the melodious notes
flying around. Great Music!!

I collect O.S.T.'s and classical pieces!!

Mmm.. Film music doesn't really stir me much. It's one and only purpose is for incidental music, and a lot is just boring. The LOTR music, I really don't know what was so fascinating about it.

The music from Gladiator was all right though.

Though I can sort of contradict myself by saying that. If music is a function that can enhance the senses, and communicate messages, film music does its job. But after a while, especially with the sheer number that are produced nowadays, film music gets very same old same old. But that can be said about any type of music.

If we talk about motion-picture musicals, that's a whole new kettle of fish! OOOOOOOOOOO-klahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plaaaaaain... Hurrah :D

Wow, an OST thread!

I dont do music, but i love OSTs! At the moment im listening to bits and peices of ROTK soundtrack and Harry Potter 3 OST! Ive also been listening to bits of Alan Silvestri, that being themes to Back to the Future and Predator, to very distincly Silvestri themes.

Ive also been listening to Dan Arnold's score to both Stargate and Independance Day, also James Newton Howard's score to Signs, which i find really unique. His score to Peter Pan is also quite well done. Im also looking for the main theme for Waterworld if anybody has it?

Ooh I do like that score, one of the couple I do like... nice and exciting :D

Now thinking about it, I really love Fiona's Theme in Shrek (1). It's so simple and lilting, could've really turned into a real work by itself if it wanted to... but then the bird goes and kills the ambience by blowing up...

Ahah that was a classic moment, then she stole the eggs ahah!

Ahh yeah another favourite at the moment is Danny Elfman's Spider-man theme music. It just captures the character really well, and was awesome in the intro to bother Spider-man 1 and 2

Have you guys all heard Requim for a Dream OST? Mass Violins sound awesome!!

Yeha i first discovered it whilst trying to find out what music was in the Matrix Reloaded trailer?

Has anybody heard Gabriel Yared's rejected score to Troy? MUCH BETTER than Horners that was in the film!

oh i heard it was fantastic from someone else too - must check it out.

i love the beauty and the beast soundtrack..... it is amazingly orchestrated!!! so majestic and beautiful!!!!!! and i have a strange liking for the lost in translation sountrack. it's not wowserly, but theres still that special 'zing' from the film in it. oh and the music from 'life is beautiful' is v. pretty too... :)
