Random question, but how are the graduate fairs? Worth going to? I registered for the one in August, and I dunno if its intended for first years.

Go to one, may well open your eyes up to different future options!
I think I will go. I've realized in the past couple of days to "not put all my eggs in one basket"- so have an open mind esp about the private sector (which tbh, I never considered before). I just have no idea what to expect from a careers fair because I've never been to one. I don't know what companies / departments usually show up, so if anyone has been to one and can tell me more, that would be highly appreciated!

I plan to do an internship / work experience next year, get my PACE unit out of the way lol :p

I've done several summer school units. What would you like to know?

What's the pace like. Cause I've enrolled in acst101 so I will only have to do 3 subjects in year 2 semester 1. All my subjects are CT exemptions then so I thought doing 3 instead of 4 would be a better idea.

It's definitely more intense.

You'll probably have 3 lectures and tutorial/practicals a week. Each day is a new "week"/topic. So if you fall behind, you'll fall behind faster. For me personally though, I found then more intense timing meant I focused a lot more and meant I didn't forget concepts because we learnt them 12 weeks before. You'll also get a week or two break over Christmas and New Year's, but you'll probably have assessments due immediately upon return.

Assignments tend to be the same as a full semester, though occasionally there was a different or easier version of an assignment due to the shorter time frame.

If your not doing anything over summer, it's good. If you want to have a rest or work though it can be difficult to manage.

acst101 is easy as shit. As you are doing actuary i assume you are good at maths so I'm gonna say you'll kill it.
