So, I want to do some kind of music next year but I'm not sure which to pick.

My other subjects, if it's of any relevance are:
Ext 1 Maths
Adv English
German Cont.
Physics
Chemistry

I'm planning to pick up ext German and ext2 maths in year 12 so I'll only be doing music as a filler for year 11, so it's really only the preliminary course that matters to me.

Basically, the music 2 prelim course looks much more interesting to me. I'm not a fan of pop/jazz/theatre music (which are the music 1 topics I was told my school would be doing since you can choose them). The only music 1 topic that interests me that we'll be doing next year is music of another culture.
Only problem with music 2 is that I didn't do music in year 9/10 so I've copped the "you'll fail at music 2" lecture from just about all the music teachers.
I've played violin for about 9-10 years though so I think I have a decent enough musical background...

What do you all think?

Are you graded for Violin?

Music 1 is VERY easy when it comes to theory (I do it). Music 2 on the other hand from what I've been told is a lot harder. No way would I be able to do it, but if you're graded pretty high for violin, shouldn't be too hard.

I'm doing grade 7 later this year. Although I could really have done it ages ago if I didn't hate and neglect the pieces. xD

Since you're taking music as a filler, I would go with music 2 because it seems like you anticipate that you would like it more.

I had this problem during subject selection too. It shouldn't be too much of a problem since you have experience with the violin. If you find it to be not what you expected or are struggling, then you can always drop.
