Hi all,

So i'm currently in yr 11 doing music 2 and i'm considering doing music ext next yr. I'm doing ext eng rn but i'm not rlly a fan and will probably drop it next yr. Except i'm not sure if i should take the risk and do 11 units OR pick up music ext since i'm alr doing music 2? I'm an 8th grade violinist if i pass this yr. I know i can ask my teacher except... they're new and hasn't seen me perform, and has only marked one comp of mine, compared to my previous one that i've had during yr 7-10, where i didn't play 'challenging' pieces.

General q's about music ext
- what elective is best out of comp, perf or essay?
- can u get away w playing 7th - 8th grade pieces?
- what genre/style works well

Any experience, advice, is most appreciated.

I would say the elective really depends on your own strengths.

In my opinion, I think performance is the best one but it requires you to continuously practice your piece throughout the year.
For essay, if you have the writing skills and knowledge you could go for that.
Composition is probably the hardest but like i said, depends on your own strengths
