it seems like everything has been done. i say any topic is good as long as you put your own personal twist on it and make a really original hypothesis

I agree, but some topics are done that much that your own personal twist is most likely 100 other peoples personal twist. Technology and generational change isnt too bad, i rekon if you applied it to a really different/out there PIP topic it could be good.
