I just got a new guitar today and I'm having trouble naming it. It needs a name that suits both its look and sound, in my opinion, but it's not easy choosing the right name. If you have suggestions, please feel free to put them forward.

Does anyone else name their instruments? What kinds of names do they get? Is it like "Ted the trombone" or "Percival the oboe" or something different? Is naming instruments a girl thing?

Please, enlighten me.

Prince Harry isn't quite as mellow as the sound...

The thing is, it's got a pretty sleek look but a really rounded, kind of soulful tone.

If you wanna choose a name that suits both its look and sound, the feeling it gives you might be neglected. How about choosing a name NOT based on how it looks but the feeling it gives you..... your emotions involved with it as you play it. Just anything that pops up from your head

its not a girl thing, it really depends on the instrument. because some don't feel right if they have a name and sometimes it feels right to call it something.

My piano is a boy. I forgot his name... so I just don't call him by anything, since it's bad luck to rename your instruments. My two violas are Cheapsh*t and Lady Clarissa (or Lady C for short). Didn't name my flute before I sold it. STILL don't have a name for my acoustic.

I never name anything  seems really wierd. I just engrave stuff into it; like my mp3 player, my picks...i dont really want to scratch my guitars though...Maybe i should name my acoustic...i have been getting really attached to it lately. Anyway call it Charlene. And start talking to it: "Smooth, Charlene" :p

Nah, I dunno have you decided if it's a girl or a boy?

It's a boy. He's an Alexander. The name just fits.

=D

But by all means, let's keep discussing this!

My laptop is called Yllix and my iPod had a name, although now that it's dead, I prefer to deny its existence. I really wish I could remember my Piano's name... It was named after some composer I think, but it was such an awesome name!!

I think it'd be better if you thought of it yourself because then it'd be more...your own.
