you dont NEED a GIRLFRIEND for your formal. most people i know didnt have a partner for either/all of their formals.
and if you so desperately want someone to take, why havent you asked any of your female friends? and if you dont, i dont think asking online sounds like such a good solution....imagine how weird/awkward it could get if some random turns up on your doorstep for you to take her to your formal. plus..you dont have to waste extra money paying for her ticket, etc.

but you don't necessarily need a date anyway... its all for the cameras and walking in together... dates are usually only important initially but during the formal, everyone gets up to dance and mingle with others
