the question assigned to me was 'discuss how journeys are vehicles of change?' we must include the texts feliks skrzynecki, crossing the red sea, wind in the willows and a text of our own selection. i was just wondering if anyone could recommend a text that is concomitant to the question and texts?

Omg you "want" to be a tutor but you're advising kids to use Shrek as their related texts? and wtf ..Castaway, only the ESL people do that text.

it was posted and recommended by someone else as i've already stated. however i believe anti is spot on the mark for most of those supplementary materials

and i respectfully support any student who genuinely desires to use shrek or castaway. i never said it would be my choices (i'm not going to just post up my own list of related texts each which took me quite a while to find because they are gathered from various sources each showing genuine independent research). however you can definitely work with shrek and castaway if you can link textual techniques with your thesis and journeys.

some people do children's and picture books (shaun tan..) and still score extremely highly. that was imho a highly snobby comment, and if you've got nothing better to say then stfu please.

LOL Anti posted that in 2004? I think we would have improved on our selection of journey texts by now. Eh, shrek is good, but everyone does it or nemo or some other cartoon. You wanna IMPRESS ur markers, man. Use something that's more TO YOUR LEVEL, not this kiddie cartoon schiess

you know i'm probably very similar to you; i f*cked huck finn off because i thought it was a load of dribble and went for the literary classic that is coleridge for journeys. all my related texts were either poems belonging to the literary canon or formulative 19th/20th century books (none of this hollywood films bs)

HOWEVER again, many people i know have chosen a simple text but reworked it from another angle scoring highly with it. i've slowly become more open to this idea and advise others now to def consider it because it can save a lot of time analysing compared to say jonathan swift's works.

lol Robert..you just had to remind us that the English syllabus has been reduced to shambles, that markers love bullshit Hollywood texts and analysis of cereal boxes with meanings of journeys on it just as much as the literary texts. No, I'm not trying to make snobbish comments, I'm just trying to convey that I still think that students should try something more challenging in order to get better marks (ok I know some students can pull off a good mark from analysing Shrek but most can't).
