Can sum1, give me a brief explanation as to how they get (D) for question 13 Multiple choice in the 2003 hsc paper.

Also, if possible can sumbody scan the answers to the 2003 hsc paper from that book (dunno the name of it), and post it up.

I'll do the first part for you.
A more reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal from solution. From an examination it can be seen that X displaces Y from solution, therefore X>Y. Z displaces Y from solution, therefore Z>Y. X doesn't displace Z from solution, therefore X<Z
Join them all together and you get: Z>X>Y which is D

Just post any more question you have, and they'll be answered

N/A
A more reactive metal will displace a less reactive metal from solution.
Test Tube 1. Metal Y is displaced by X. So X is greater than Y
Test Tube 2. Metal Y is displaced by Z. So Z is greater than Y
Test tube 3. No displacement reaction so Z must be greater than X

No-one is going to do that I'm afraid. It would take too much effort
