need help for assignment (specifications for server, and backup options) (1 Viewer)

hello

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for where i can find some information to help me two questions from an assignment i recently got in my systems technology class.
Basically, if i quote the first bit of the assignment

"A company is setting up an operation in another state and requires you to make recommendations for network design and infrastructure. Your brief is to develop a suitable LAN and WAN structure that allows efficient communication with the parent company. Your budget limitations require you to be financially economical."

of the questions on the sheet i'm having difficulty for these two


1)Hardware and software specifications for a server to handle DHCP and DNS. As well as store secure company operation information.

2)Back up options for the server to provide redundancy in case of a hardware crash, a fire or other type of emergency.

For backup options:

-Server uses something like raid 5
-Backup to magnetic tape
-Tapes get taken home by network admin or locked in fire safe
Or offline storage, data is backed up to an offsite data centre

Just thoughts, you should have a look at dells website to get an idea of server prices and features that you need etc.


Sounds like a sorta interesting assignment

I don't really understand what you’re meant to be doing so it’s hard to tell you websites that may help. Is it like a full formal report proposition?

If you have the Excel IT book, that might have some useful stuff in it.
