Karl calls Susan first to tell her he loves her and then tries to call Izzy but she doesn't pick up and it goes to her voice mail where he leaves a message. The ambulance gets there and revives him and he's in hospital and there's a bit of tension between Izzy and Susan while waiting for the doctor to get back to them. Susan goes in to visit Karl first but he's very groggy and she just kind of pats his head.

No way! Karl DID NOT tell Izzy that he loves her. All he said was that he wants her to be happy and please let someone love her (as in someone ELSE). He didn't say he loves her. Before his heart attack he'd already seen through her games and couldn't take it anymore. Like he said in today's episode, their whole relationship was "based on games and power struggle" and that it's too late for a second chance for Izzy. Serves her right. I'm really pleased that she's finally getting what she deserves.
I so hated the way how she justified her affair with Paul as "just a bit of fun" and that it "meant nothing", while she feels like she has a right to chuck a major tantrum about Karl "almost" sleeping with Susan. And then she has the nerve to come waltzing back into Karl's apartment thinking that preparing a dinner and pouring some wine could win Karl right back into her arms. Her idea of getting Karl to meet her "half-way" is forbidding him from seeing Susan because Susan is like a bad influence on their relationship. "I'm going to be different from now on". Yeah right. Karl: "Oh, so this is the new you, is it?" quite matter-of-factly.
I'm loving this new Karl. He's finally come to his senses.
