Love? Hate? I still can't decide... Imo needs some serious air conditioning and signage re. quiet spaces/group study spaces etc.

It looks pretty cool, but damn it makes me feel like a first year again as I wander aimlessly through it trying to get my bearings. Also that strange diagonal staircase from lvls 1-2 freaks me out.

The comparisons they show on the TV screens between the new and the old library are pretty interesting too - like the amount of desks/chairs, computers, powerpoints, etc.

I think it's fantastic and well overdue, although I've only had time for a quick look.

Looking forward to checking it out properly next week.

I agree Blizane I felt like a 1st year student again as I wandered around the new library looking completely lost for awhile there. Also where exactly are the quiet/single study areas? I just seem to sit where ever its quiet but their must be a designated spot somewhere I just can't find it yet. Other then me still figuring out where some stuff is I'm loving the new library with so many more computers and power points!

LOL....use the lifts man.

Anyways, so far i have been spending majority of time at lv2, since i borrow books from reserves. The positives of the new library heaps more computers and power points, of coures more space. But who reckons some of the sitting and small round tables are not made for studying instead use for a chat or relaxing time with friends?

Oh and the new printing, i did the old library way and once got to the printing station was like 'lolwut'. Also new printers curls your paper......:(

Gonna adventure to lv3-5 this week and check out any good spots.

Completely agree, I can see how they're trying to make the space seem more modern and friendly etc... but those little tables and round spaces are not conducive to studying.

Today at 12 I went to try and find a single study desk and all the single spots on the upper levels were FULL at 12 noon in week 2!!! I ended up going back down stairs to level 1 and 2and sat down at one of those long rectangle tables and i was there for only like 5 min before a group of 4 people came and sat down at the table and began chatting about what they were doing on the weekend.... I think I'll just study at home from now on because I like it being nice and quiet in my own little area (like the desks back at the old library) not nosiy and loud.

LOL never thought I would miss the old library - they should really leave it open as a study space :(
