how do i apply newton's method of approximation to this question:

The curve y=lnx and y=2-x have a point of intersection close to 1.5. Use x=1.5 to find a better approximation of the x co-ordinate of intersection.

thanks

Let f(x) = lnx - (2-x)

then you do the normal process from there.

We do this method because we are trying to find their intersection. i.e. lnx = 2-x
Thus we take (2-x) to the left hand side and call that whole equation f(x).
