Hopefully, they would consider historical fail rates of subjects before implementing it as well.

Not 100% on board with it but not enough information to make a definitive statement on it.

Can see it heading down welfare path, whereby the majority of people doing the right thing are punished due to presumption that welfare cheats are prevalent within that population.

Should be fine if they obviously do it the right way, making sure there's no external factors influencing the grades such as Mental health etc. I presume people would be given an opportunity to prove this.

I don't mind the decision. As it is no students under normal circumstances should be failing more than half their courses. Plus as it is at UNSW at least I'm pretty sure if you fail close to half your courses you can even be kicked out of university and I know this from a friend who almost did get kicked out for this very reason.
