Hi guys,

I'm just interested to know how you set out your notes and approx how many pages you do for each chapter. Do you use dotpoints, mindmaps, diagrams etc?

Thanks.

Hmm I don't know if notes are so useful. I tried making notes in Year 11 but I felt like I was copying out the entire textbook at times because the explanations were already quite succint. A lot of my classmates make notes though, although I'm not really sure how they make or use them.

everyones different and theres no single way to do notes. It just depends on the person.

Usually though the point of making notes isn't to have something to refer back to necessarily (as the textbook is probably going to be better for that) but rather something that proves your understanding of the material by writing them.

For example when you do notes you generally explain in your own words. This requires you to read a textbook and be able to synthesise what is being said rather than simply copying.

How you structure it is up to you.

do all of your notes under the syllabus dot-points. Just put the whole syllabus in a word document and then write the notes under the approriate headings. Notes are gonna be long at first (e.g. 50 pages for HSC course) but as you get to know them better you will be able to cut them down until you are eventually ( 1 day before HSC examine hopefully) just left with the syllabus dot-points again (If you study like crap!)

Cheers,

Paddy

Do notes according to the syllabus

over time you can cut them down as you memorise certain aspects, like types of unemployment. before the hsc you should know what long term unemployment is so in your notes there will just be "LT u/e" and you know exactly what it means

it depends on the person, but personally i just write the dotpoint out. Write all the information under it and later on, usually at the end of the topic go looking for stats and integrate them.
