Ahh, a real life Notre Dame student. Do you know who wrote the law school's Wikipedia entry by any chance GolfPunk?

There are 475 undergraduate students in the Law School at Notre Dame. 439 are Domestic Students and 25 International Students. The Law School is considered the best law School across Australia.
Take that USyd.

The law school now takes part in the prestigious ALSA competitions and the AAT Mooting Competitions as well as the International Maritime Moot competition. For the past two years, the Law school has recorded great success; often finishing in the Top 5.
Now see, I always thought of ALSA as more of a glorified pissup than a prestigious competition, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

Not too sure on Notre Dame Sydney.

Comes across to me as another institution offering law degrees, cheapening the overal prestige of it all. It's small, has no known academics, no industry rep (how many law firm partners came from ND?) and thinks participating in ALSA is a big deal. It's basically a strange off-shoot of Sydney Uni, created due to the stance of the Howard govt in funding a new private uni.

It wasn't necessarily someone from the Sydney campus though...

Edit:Just realised he said Fremantle anyway, lol. The person who wrote it could be from any campus though... It's freakin' hilarious, lol!

Oh wow, i saw the wiki entry ages ago but it wasnt that detailed. It must be a staff member or something. But its pretty much correct.

Re the ALSA, i suppose we are pretty proud of those achievements because we compete against other WA unis in the competition so its sort of a gloating thing.

Every one is entitled to opinions. However this is my rebuttal.

Firstly you are probably correct about all of these statements when you talk about Sydney Notre Dame. However this may not be the case for the Notre Dame Law School.

I am pretty sure the Fremantle campus was established well before the Sydney Campus. So therefore I am not too sure about the Syd Uni links. Even on the Notre Dame website it states "Founded through an Act of the Parliament of Western Australia in December 1989". Therefore it could not have been associated with the Howard Government (The Fremantle Campus that is)

Both law schools have not been around for a while so i wouldnt expect there to be any Notre Dame partners in law firms. Also I hear there are just as many ND law students getting jobs at big law firms as students from other universities.

In respect to the academics, the Fremantle Campus has quite a few specialising in many fields. Of particular note we have the former Supreme Court Justice of Western Australia as one of our Associate Professors.

As I said before, I wont know the true value of this degree until I get out into the workforce.

Notre Dame Law at Sydney is very intense , infact we have head hunted a few Usyd / UNSW lectuerers and they sometimes have stated at how big our work load is. We also specialise in trying to get as many lectuerers that still practice part time , so pleanty of real time information is passed on. We also study many topics in depth unlike unsw or uws or even usyd we break down courses such as contracts into A and B (per semester) to really emphasis and learn our content intsead of a basic gloss over.

We are a new university but are making big waves.
