What are you going to do? Do they provide an incentive for you to work more? Or just bludge around.

My subject results:
Adv. English : overall 58% . not happy with english . .. im gonna do more past year papers and write more essays .. (trying to churn out 2 essays per week now.)

Maths (2u): 78%. not happy with this mark .. gonna spend a little more time on this subject .. do more revision, past papers, etc.

Maths (3u): 55%. deffinitely not happy with this mark!! spending more time on 3u maths .... gotta ace the other tests i have left in this subject

IPT: 85%. not bad for last minute study eh? .. gonna do minimal study on this subject. :p

Physics: 64%. not content ... gonna spend more and more time on physics sooo yah ... gonna be doing more summary notse and past papers! (redoing summary for this subj. atm)

Business Studies: 92%. ecstatic about this mark! ... except that i made 1 silly mistake in the short answers .. or else i would've been 16/20; 25/25; 20/20 for the different parts .. still. i'm content!! [ note: it's multi. choice; Short answers; essay response respectively ]
and for business .. im gonna do more summary notes, etc etc. past papers ... and yeah! :D

my order of priority:
1. 3u maths
2. Adv. English
3. Physics
4. 2u Maths
5. Business Studies
6. IPT

yeah! lets get cracking now .. shall we?
off to do hw now. . ciao

Considering that i got between 50-60 % for maths, chemistry, p.e... and between 60-70% for english.... i should be more motivated.... but i'm not

Although those marks seem dreadful, i was above average for maths and chemistry, and in p.e. i am blitzing all the hand-ins ...
Really, english is the only subject i am performing really poorly in...

Business- i got 80%
SOR- 69/80

would still like to improve in every subject..

order of priority, would have to be:

1. Chemistry--- class is small and quite dumb lol... if i work i could finish top 6
2. Maths--- need to finish top 5... behind extension students
3. English--- would like to finish in the middle
4. P.E---- can easily achieve high band 5... just need to improve on tests
5. Business -- i would like to finish top 3 in this subject... so extra time on assignments
6. S.o.r--- can achieve band 6.... currently sitting on 90% after 3 assignments

tell me is the ranking the most important thing?
Yes, the marks from your assessments are just used to determine your rank. The external exam would then determine your assessment mark based on your rank.

Well I'm aiming for a UAI of 77.00 and so far it's not looking good...

Maths (2U) - 83% - happy with that mark, but could do a bit better
English (Advanced) - 48% - need to do alot better, but I'm just not capable of a better mark... (PS - English suxxorz!!!...lol)
Ancient History - 57% - better than previous results, but still needs to be better
Senior Science - 74% - not bad, again can do better
Music 1 - DIdn't have a half-yearly, but I think I'm about 70% or better
SDD - Haven't got results back yet (doing it through Karabar distance ed.), hoping for bout 75%

hey everyone, i see u all have put a lot of effort in ur studies and are being rewarded which is good. anyways, i'm from the country and our marks are far lower than city dwellers' results. for example in Adv English, the highest result in our year was 70% (i came 2nd with 67%), which is crappy compared with marks like 100%. I don't know whats wrong with our school - we never seem to get in the band 6 range easily (unless we study 10 hours a day , excluding homework and other things.)

anyway, here are my half yrly results:

Adv English 67% - 2nd (1st was 70%)
2u Math 89% - 1st
3u Math 68% - 1st
Physics 77% - 2nd (1st was 79%) ( i was first before the exam with 93%, but my exam result (57%) screwed me up)
Chemistry 90% - 1st
Business Studies 88% - 1st

so u can see - i only got one band 6 and missed out on two other subjects by one ore two percent. what advice can anyone give that will help me reach the band six aggeregate and distance myself from people who are behind me in rank. And anyone who does 3u Math - what do I DO???? - i have no idea how to study for that subject - same as physics - i am drowning here.

By the way , how important is rank, even if there are only 3 - 6 people in each of your classes?
And can someone calculate my UAI - or at least give me a link to do so

Overall, I could have done better in most of my subjects. It has given me an incentive to work much harder this term, which leads up to the trials next term, and finally the HSC in October. These first two weeks have just been hard... trying to get as motivated as I can, been revising on what I've done.

Overall I'm happy with my results, especially English this time around, but there are some things I really need to improve on. My ranks are all fine except for maths which is probably not that great (I didn't want to know), but all the others I came top 5, so :D.... all the same I know I can improve.

Shinji,
I think 2 essays per week is a bit excessive and unrealistic
considering you have other subjects that are of high demand aswell

Some of us just finished our half yearlies :D :D :D

Anyway, WHY OH FUCKING WHY are you people associating your current marks with UAI? Bloody hell, even your ranking couldnt tell you that well right now, unless you have a very good idea of how your school normally fares and how your cohort is compared to the state.

I got 66% in my corresponding 2u maths test last year. Internally, I finished up with 75% and a ranking of 35th / 210 (Also, people, when naming your ranks, unless 1st, please tell us out of how many. I'm certainly not impressed by 3rd out of 4) Anyway, so I got 66% in my half yearly, and got 75% internally, but putting 75% in SAM would be unrealistic and shit.

The internal assessment came out 95/100.

Must be the goodness of my school, but nonetheless, stop linking these marks to your UAI. Leave that until late December until you know how you fared against the state.
