well, you have to consider that arguably the smarter portion of the year 12 body would be on this forum. this forum isn't really the best way to judge the frequency of atars. it is a rank after all, meaning there is somebody in the state receiving all those other numbers not posted here.

heaps of people getting 90+ and posting on bored making there seem like there's an actual preponderance is a given; i was asking because of what i've seen/heard outside the forums.

It only appears there are more 90+s becasue those who do get above 90 are usually more enthusiastic to share their result.
