I heard that in the new library we won't actually have access to the books like now when I need to research something I just enter the keywords into the search engine for the library, get the general idea of the books whereabouts, find the area and go through several books. But someone told me that in the new library, you don't actually get to see the books, you just enter the number of the book you need and a machine goes and gets it for you. Is that correct or was someone just having me on haha?

Will there still be the option to browse books?

There will be a browsing open-access collection of up to 500,000 items. Consultation with academics has commenced to ensure that we identify what is required to support the teaching and research needs. We are also working on ways to improve the information you can get about items in the catalogue to help you with your browsing, and it is already possible to browse the catalogue by Call Number.
