One bad trial= NEVER band 6??? (1 Viewer)

Ok, I admit this: I did very bad in my 3U trials
And it was not a hard exam, and I was WAY below par, getting around 60%, 52/84 for raw exam mark


My trials cost around 40%, while I got 3 assessments before worth 60% in total (20% each)


And WAIT, before you call me stupid (yeah, I AM stupid in this case), my raw assessment mark through out the year was consistently in the high 80s-90% + range.

Let's assume I study hard, tops the external HSC in my school with a high Band E4
Then do I still have a shot with band E4?
OR the system will average everything out?






Also, my chem teacher confused me saying that:
If in trials (internal assessments)
A has a band 6
B has a band 5
Then in HSC
Even if B achieves a band 6
A will get that band 6 counted towards his final HSC REGARDLESS whether if that band 6 is A's or not
Is this true?

Obviously you can still get a band E4 in 3u, its not really that hard at all.

For your second part: this is such a common question you should really search. Basically, the HSC mark is made of internal (assessment) and external (exam) marks. The person coming first will get the highest EXTERNAL mark as their INTERNAL. For example if A is first, and B is second, and B scores higher in the HSC than A, A will get B's external mark as their internal mark.

no. ppl who dont cum first get their marks moderated according to various factors such as gaps between ranks, the average exam mark for the cohort etc.

The highest and lowest marks are used to create two points which a curve is fitted on, which then allows further moderation for other ranks
