So in case people haven't seen, we can't get into the old threads, and some of the old threads have some good ways to be organised for the next two years.
So, I decided we would start a new one!
Anyone who has some good organisational skills, study tips or ways of coping with stress could put it on here, for people to read and use in their life as well :)

Well, I am semi-organised.

  • I would plan my study every weekend.

  • Keep everything in one place particularly books so you can find it.

  • Use a diary, they are VERY useful.

And as for stress, go outside and take some fresh air in. Other than that people at my school tell me to relax, "it's only preliminary" or you will "burn out" before the HSC and "be consistent."

  • Find out whether you study better in the morning or night.
  • Don't do your homework while sitting in front of the TV or in front of the computer or listening to music unless it's classic.
  • To avoid stress, complete all homework before it is due & start assignments the day you get them. This will help avoid a big pile of work to do.
  • If you're good at sticking with things then try making a study timetable. This doesn't work for everyone.
  • If you dislike sticking with things then make a to do list & complete it.
  • Make sure you exercise regularly. It can help keep off the stress too.
  • Give yourself rewards for completing a piece of homework or writing an essay.
  • Don't leave things until the last minute.
  • Talk to your friends & help them.
  • Get a stress ball to squeeze out your frustration. Or you could throw the stress ball at a wall. Either way works.

Have a goal. An ATAR you want. Or a course you want to get into.

I had a goal on which course I wanted to do, heaps of people said I wouldn't do it.

But I got it! Cos I aimed towards it.

It gives you something to work towards.

Also everytime you sit down to study, figure out what you want to have acheived at the end of the study session.

Very helpful advice there.

Study tips i use:
- Use cornwell note taking system (search it up)
- Colour code workload on your yearly wall planner
-Low: Yellow (no assesments due)
-Moderate: Green (1 assignment/1 test)
-High: Red (2+ assignment/ 2+tests)
-Have an arch folder with tab dividers, and use looseleaf paper for notes and file it in that folder (summarising school content)
-Do lots of past papers in the appropriate time limit in exam situations
-List all the things you do on one day and cross em' out as you go (some guy on this forum said cross out the unnecessary things to do frist so as to 'trick' your brain that you have completed those tasks
-Use colour (eg. for meaning to create patterns in the brain)
-Don't put anything on the table but only what are you studying
-When studying, study in blocks of 55 min with 5 min break inbetween(try not to surf the net or watch tv during this time, instead have a drink of water, wash your face, go for a walk, organise the next task to do, stretch etc.)
-Do revision of school subjects (1 hour per subject) on a sat. or sun.
-Do the HARDEST tasks first
-Spend 30 min each night reviewing the day's, yesterday's, and the day before's learning (all subjects)
- Have a compulsory 12 hours of rest every week
-Create a timetable and try as you might to stick to it (no pain no gain)
-List your goals, have an aim
-Reward yourself for completing difficult task
-Go study :D im in the same boat as you and gl in achieving your goals

I think a big one is not leaving things until the last minute. For a lot of people this stresses them out to no end, and others can cope but there still isn't really a reason for leaving it until the last minute. I've done it, I know I shouldn't and I'm trying to not do it :)

Strongly recommend not leaving things until the last minute, though i am being very hypocritical here considering the many half/all-nighters i have stayed up finishing put off assignments :)

Everyone says this, yet we're all guilty! Hahaha :p It's just so much easier to forget about it then to do it.
