Hi everyone,

My heart has been set on law since Year 10 and I have worked so hard in Year 11 and 12 but I just received my UNSW LAT results back (I absolutely bombed it, don't even want to talk about my %ile). I'm unsure of what to do because I don't think that my ATAR would be high enough to get into USYD law but I got early entry offers (LLB and B Com/B Bus depending on the Uni) for UTS, Macquarie and WSU. I don't know if it's worth taking the risk of transferring from another degree into law or to just go with my UTS offer if I don't get a high enough Selection Rank for USYD (since I don't think that UNSW is accepting me with that trash LAT score).

Would love to hear others' thoughts :)

im not 100% sure about other unis, but for sydney, you need a HD (85+) average mark to transfer into law, so it might be easier to pick an easy degree, farm WAM and transfer in if you're absolutely set on unsw or usyd.

at the end of the day, a law degree is a law degree, if your marks are good enough, there are still plenty of employment opportunities.

Is your heart set on just the study and practice of law or as a high flyer? UOW has lower ATAR/SR entry requirements but its alumni probably wouldn’t have as many high flyers for networking opportunities. I know one UOW law graduate who is passionate about social justice and her UOW law degree serves her well, but her income probably isn’t all that high.
