They're probably insecure about their feelings for you - so behaving like an arse towards you makes them feel better by humiliating you. It's not a proper way to behave.

as if she shouldnt. she has a right to do so.

each person will see situations differently and if that makes someone elses response different to that of yours, it doesnt mean they should conform to your ideas. that being, her opinion is hers, and she can have a response which suits her ideas, its not violent or out of step, and not illegal.
