Is anyone doing Philosophy as a major? What's it like?

I'm doing Philosophy as a minor next year.

But uhh, as I asked on open day - there's a lot of discussion, essay writing and the like. Small groups in tutes to discuss the philosophical side of things... and yeah. Sounded pretty nice, actually.

Is anyone doing Philosophy as a major? What's it like?

I did an intro course to it at another university and I actually found it to be alright. I entered it being really skeptical like "this isnt going to help me in my career, its an epic waste of time etc", but it turned out to be really interesting and actually quite relaxing. I dont know if I'd major in it because it really isnt useful for a career, but if your doing it in combination with something that will lead to a career, then it isnt a bad course to study because it can give you a greater insight into the world.

My cousin did philosophy at unsw around 15 years ago, and she teaches it at a school in Victoria.
