Do we need to know the following things? like is it part of the syllabus?

Work Function
Kinetic Energy
Threshold Frequency
and Stopping Voltage...
and do we need to know the formulas for calculating them?

thanks!

SOrry, but another q....

in relation to the photoelectric effect and the E=hf and c=f . wavelength formulas...
do we need ot know frequencies and wavlengths of certian lights? so like, UVL, red light, green light, etc?

I never understood stopping voltage, but can't even find a question that asks it.

Can someone please post an example question with solution :p?

you need to know everything. stopping voltage is definately in the syllabus. it's part of the experiement where you graph the line to find plancks constant, work function etc.

what experiment? In the syllabus there is, as far as I know, no such thing. (First hand investigation wise)

Its a computer experiment/simulation isn't it? meh can't be bothhered looking at syllabus at moment.

Re: 回复: Re: Phtotelectic Effect

I found a formula for stopping voltage

qv=Maximum kinetic energy

Where q Is I assume the charge of the electrons, v is stopping voltage and well the other variable is self explanatory :p.

Will this do :p?

yep i remember nothing of this,

oh well, ill know the stopping voltage and the others just incase..

what will the q most likely be like? they will give us a graph of intensity of radiation vs frequency?

and we have to show where the work function is, threshold freq is, etc etc?

and isnt calculating plancks constant pretty much the gradient of the line?

They have asked us to graph e=hf basically and h is the gradient but be careful to actually measure the gradient because it won't be exactly the 6.626x10^-34 (is that what we are given on the data sheet? Off the top of my head so not 100% sure :p)
