Anyone got an idea on what the main differences (or approaches) are for these two units? They are both mainstream 1st year Physics major units but one or the other is required (then onto 106 or 141..) Looked at the old unit guides but both seem to do the same thing..

Cheers

Since they're roughly the same, shouldn't that be why they're anti-requisites?
Reading the descriptions, it seems that PHYS140 has more of a focus on electricity and magnetism whilst the other course seems to be more of an introduction to a broad range of physics subjects that were pioneered during the mid 18th - early 20th century (hence modern mechanics).

PHYS140 requires a higher assumed level of maths than PHYS107, so if you not strong in maths perhaps go with PHYS107
